Dahlshús Gallery

Art gallery in an old seahouse

Dahlshús Gallery is an old seahouse, built by Jóhann Dahl, a herring ship-owner, who imported the house from Norway in 1880 and was only used by Dahl for three years, or until 1883. The building has had many different roles in its time, such as a fish-processing house and a slaughter house, to name a few.

The house has in the recent years been restored to its original style and opened up as an art gallery in the summer of 2013 and has since housed exhibition of well-known Icelandic artist.

The house has a 90 m2 base and is owned by the entrepeneur Jens Garðar Helgason, who is also chairman of the executive board of Fjarðabyggð.
