Point Asknes
Remains of times gone by
At this point you'll find the remains of an old whaling station, built by Norwegians about 1900 which was the largest one in the world at the time. Around 200 people were employed there when the operations of the station were at their maximum.
Point Asknes is on the south shore of Mjóifjörður, about 30 min. walking distance from the road at the bottom of the fjord.
