The Eskifjörður Triathlon

For all ages

The Eskifjörður triathlon grows with each year, attracting more and more participants, and no wonder since this is a fantastic recreational event for the whole family. The triathlon takes place during the Sailor's Day weekend each year and involves completion of swimming, cycling and running in three categories: super sprint, sprint and Olympic distance.

The Super Sprint category is for children, individuals or three persons teams, which can be composited of both children and adults. The Sprint category is for both individuals or teams and the Olympic Distance category is divided into two groups: one of 14-24 years olds and other for 25 years olds and older.

The distances in the Super Sprint are 400m swim, 10km cycling and 2,5km run. The distances in the Sprint category are 750m swim, 20km cycling and 5km run. Distances in the Olympic Distance category are 1500m swim, 40km cycling and 10km run.

Participation fee is moderate and all the proceeds from the triathlon go to charity in East Iceland.
