Seeress Grave Cairn

A superb point of view

The gravesite of a seeress can be found at the top of the Hólmaháls hill, where the route from Reyðarfjörður to Eskifjörður lies highest. Here, she can still view both fjords well and continues to protect them from foreign attacks, as she has done for centuries.

According to folklore the seeress has since early 18th century, protected the settlements in Eskifjörður and Reyðarfjörður fjords against pirating and other mortal perils coming from the sea.

To reach the grave cairn, you can either drive or take the comfortable walk from National Route 92. The view overlooking both fjords, Eskifjörður and Reyðarfjörður, is simply superb.
