Gerpir Area

Fjarðabyggð is heaven on earth for hikers. The deserted Gerpir area, which stretches between Norðfjörður and Reyðarfjörður, has now become one of the most popular locations on the island for walkers.

As elsewhere in the municipality, the Touring Club of the East Fjords, Ferðafélag Fjarðamanna, has put great efforts into marking a number of hiking routes. A hiking map is available at information centres and shops throughout Fjarðabyggð.
