To begin with, this pleasant trail leads along the banks of the village's main river, taking you from the centre of town up to the Wartime Museum.

If you continue past the museum, you will reach the waterfall Búðarárfoss, and above it the dam that collects water for the local hydropower plant. Above the dam, you will reach the deserted expanses of Svínadalur valley.
