Easter Snow and Fun

Family fun in Fjarðabyggð's ski resort

Easter Snow and Fun is a festival celebrating culture and the outdoors that takes place in Fjarðabyggð each Easter.

The biggest celebration is at the Oddsskarð Ski Resort where you will find an extensive program over the Easter break. Super Jump snowboarding tournament, dress-up ski day, amusement course for the youngest generation and a easter egg scavenger hunt are just examples of what Oddsskarð has to offer. The great snowboard and freestyle skiing course is especially popular over Easter.

On Holy Thursday and the Saturday before Easter the Oddsskarð Ski Resort is open up until midnight. The Saturday, dubbed the Tirol-day, with respect to the Alps, ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

In connection to Easter Snow and Fun are the Martyr skiing walk on Good Friday, the Easter egg hiking to Grænafell mountain and the walk to Páskahellir, the Easter cave, on Easter Sunday held by the Touring Club of the East Fjords, Ferðafélag Fjarðamanna. The Easter egg scavenger hunt on the Saturday before Easter in Mjóeyri has gotten very popular over the years. Besides the scavenger hunt, the tourist service offers guided snowmobile excursion, where people come on their own snow mobiles, given that the weather is good.

After having spent the whole day outside it is highly recommended to take a dip in one of Fjarðabyggð's swimming pools for a bit of relaxation.
