Rex

The emblem of Fáskrúðsfjörður Town

This boat, nowadays on display beside the sports field at the west end of the village, is a good example of the shipbuilding which flourished here in the 20th century. There is a monument to Einar Sigurðsson, the man who built REX NS 3, on the hill above the boat.

When entering Fáskrúðsfjörður Town, the boat is easy to spot. To many Rex serves as an emblem of Fáskrúðsfjörður, which is the home to Loðnuvinnslan, one of the major fisheries in Iceland.

Nearby Rex is Café Sumarlina together with one of the main venues of the French Days Festivals.
