Icelandic cuisine with a touch of french flaire.
The bright and spacious dining area on the ground floor of the French Hospital.
The French hospital in Fáskrúðsfjörður was built by the French fishermen around 1900.
This small wooden pier is attached to the veranda in front of l'Abri in the south.

L'Abri

Icelandic cuisine with a french flaire.

On the ground floor of the splendid French Hospital, beautifully situated by the black sanded beach of Fáskrúðsfjörður fjord, the hotel restaurant l'Abri offers the perfect ambience for special culinary treats.

The French Hospital is a part of the heritage that French fishermen left behind in Fáskrúðsfjörður in the early 20th century. In all, five buildings have been renovated and brought back to their former splendour. Serving now as a platform for Fosshotel Austfirðir, the French museum and l'Abri, the project has become one of Fáskrúðsfjörður's main attractions.

L'Abri, being the French word for the shelter, specialises in fresh natural ingredients with a grain of French flaire. The restaurant's café is always open. À la carte menu is served from 18:00 – 21:00.

Annexed to the veranda of the restaurant, on the south entrance, is a small wooden pier, which is just the perfect place for a stroll, while marvelling the scenery and crisp air.
